Company background

DNA Construction is a commercial construction company specialising in projects for hospitals and imaging clinics. At any one time they are typically managing 15 projects in the middle of their lifecycle, with an additional 2-3 projects in the early stages and 15-20 projects in the closing phase.

Challenges 

Before implementing OneCore, DNA Construction used Excel spreadsheets to manage their projects, relying on manual data entry. This approach was not only less efficient, but different team members followed their own methods, leading to inconsistent processes and potential financial discrepancies.

DNA Construction soon realised the need for a more manageable, centralised system that enforced consistent procedures across the company. Selecting Procore for their project management, they also required Interfy’s OneCore as a platform to integrate the new system with Xero accounting software. 

“It’s much more manageable and central and provides a protocol for everyone to follow to ensure there are no data discrepancies,” Wendy explained.

Since implementing OneCore with Procore, DNA Construction has experienced significant time savings, particularly in the finance department. Specifically, Wendy estimates a 20% increase in efficiency, thanks to the standardised processes and streamlined data management facilitated by the integration.

Consistent processes

The new integration has ensured everyone in the company adopts uniform procedures by following the same reporting system through Procore rather than the accounting software. This has not only reduced the chance of discrepancies; it has also made it easier to train new employees on the company’s systems.

Informed decision-making and cost controls

The OneCore/Procore combination has also enhanced visibility for better decision-making, especially regarding staff costs. Using the OneCore integration, Procore reflects the costs associated with each employee without the need for manual calculations, saving time and providing more accurate data for informed decisions.

Additionally, it has given DNA Construction greater control over subcontractor charges, identifying potential issues when subcontractors exceed their allocated budgets. This proactive approach has saved the company significant time and money, particularly on larger projects involving hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of work.

Finally, the well-defined processes and intuitive nature of the integrated system have simplified role handovers, making it easier for new team members to take on responsibilities without extensive training.

“OneCore is our preferred Procore/accounting integration because of its high level of functionality. It is also very straightforward to use; it would be far easier to train a new staff member in my role than if we were still managing data manually,” Wendy concludes.
